Hello! I'm Connor, a third-year Computer Science student at Carleton University. With over 9 years of programming experience, including Python, Java, C, C++, JavaScript, Ruby, and Dart, I have cultivated a deep appreciation for mathematics and statistics. I find the elegance of mathematical concepts and the insights drawn from statistical analysis to be truly captivating. Hi! My name is Sarah. I’m a Concordia University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minors in Psychology, Law and Society, and First People Studies. I’m also currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University and working as a Junior Policy Analyst for the Government of Canada. I have a strong background in English and French and have been actively involved in my university community. My passion for advocacy, law, public policy, and human rights drives my commitment to promoting the inclusion of minorities and addressing systemic barriers. Hi! My name is Charlotte. I am a second-year health sciences student at the University of Ottawa, and I aspire to pursue medicine in the future. I am fascinated by human health and love to learn about how the sciences play a role in the functioning of the human body. I have always been passionate about education and love to learn! In the past, I have assisted in teaching dance lessons to children as young as 3, and I have also mentored high school students. Hi! My name is Amelia! I just graduated from Anthropology at uOttawa, and am now working while I apply to teacher’s college. A little about me is that I am passionate about history, literature, and languages. I attended UOttawa so that I could continue my learning in French immersion, and I also spent a semester abroad taking my classes in Spanish in Monterrey, Mexico. I have experience working in outdoor education and believe that learning through doing is so important. When I was younger, tutoring was integral to overcoming my learning disability and becoming somebody who loves reading and writing. Many of the tutors I had transformed learning for me into something that fed my curiosity, was playful and rewarding. Bonjour/Hello! My name is Yeab Kassa, but you can call me Yabi. I am an undergraduate student at the University of Ottawa, majoring in Conflict Studies and Human Rights. I am passionate about global affairs, international law, and human rights advocacy. During my undergraduate career, I have fostered excellent study skills and practices that have enabled me to consistently be on my university's Dean List and pursue CO-OP opportunities in various federal departments. Hello, my name is Alex, I’m a 3rd year Astrophysics student minoring in Biology at Carleton university. I’ve been mentoring Math & Physics at the university level for over 2 years now. My passion for learning emerged during high school when going through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. I’ve developed a learning approach primarily driven by curiosity. It includes filling in prerequisite gaps, and finding an array of resources to help develop a more wholesome knowledge of a subject: good textbooks, articles, visual videos, and interactive websites. It also emphasizes tying STEM knowledge back into reality, which entails exploring the applications behind each topic, either in the real world or later in more advanced topics. Overall I’m a very curious and active person, I love anything with movement, especially in nature: rock-climbing, backpacking, running, biking, and yoga. I also really enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, writing, guitar, language learning, and philosophizing about life. My goal is to help you move past any roadblocks in a subject, establish necessary study skills (note-taking, finding good resources, and absorbing knowledge), in addition to deepening your curiosity about the subject.
