With over 9 years of programming experience, including Python, Java, C, C++, JavaScript, Ruby, and Dart, I have cultivated a deep appreciation for mathematics and statistics. I’m also currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University and working as a Junior Policy Analyst for the Government of Canada. Hi! My name is Charlotte. I am a second-year health sciences student at the University of Ottawa, and I aspire to pursue medicine in the future. I am fascinated by human health and love to learn about how the sciences play a role in the functioning of the human body. I have always been passionate about education and love to learn! Hi! My name is Serena, and I have an Honours B.A. in Second Language Teaching from the University of Ottawa. I'm now working on my B.Ed. to become a French teacher! I went to school in French (100%) from kindergarten to grade 6, and then a mix of English and French Immersion from grades 7-12. I have done some virtual tutoring for French as a second language for kids ages 6-14, and I've helped lots of kids with their homework and assignments other the years. I also have an interest in teaching history and math. In my spare time, I like to sing, dance, and make things! I'm also open to tutoring adults who are learning English or French.

Hi, I'm Amanda. Teaching has been a passion of mine since childhood. I was the kind of kid who came home from school and “taught” the grass in my backyard as if it were my class. Since then, I’ve turned that passion into real teaching experiences, from tutoring Grade 5/6 math privately to leading a classroom through the Junior Achievement Program with the Ottawa Network for Education. In my professional career, I’ve also trained colleagues and external partners on how to use technology in their daily work, which has further strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and practically. I attended UOttawa so that I could continue my learning in French immersion, and I also spent a semester abroad taking my classes in Spanish in Monterrey, Mexico. I have experience working in outdoor education and believe that learning through doing is so important. When I was younger, tutoring was integral to overcoming my learning disability and becoming somebody who loves reading and writing. Hello, my name is Alex, I’m a 3rd year Astrophysics student minoring in Biology at Carleton university. I’ve been mentoring Math & Physics at the university level for over 2 years now. My passion for learning emerged during high school when going through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. I’ve developed a learning approach primarily driven by curiosity. It includes filling in prerequisite gaps, and finding an array of resources to help develop a more wholesome knowledge of a subject: good textbooks, articles, visual videos, and interactive websites. It also emphasizes tying STEM knowledge back into reality, which entails exploring the applications behind each topic, either in the real world or later in more advanced topics. Overall I’m a very curious and active person, I love anything with movement, especially in nature: rock-climbing, backpacking, running, biking, and yoga. I also really enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, writing, guitar, language learning, and philosophizing about life. My goal is to help you move past any roadblocks in a subject, establish necessary study skills (note-taking, finding good resources, and absorbing knowledge), in addition to deepening your curiosity about the subject.
