Amanda T
Hi, I'm Amanda. Teaching has been a passion of mine since childhood. I was the kind of kid who came home from school and “taught” the grass in my backyard as if it were my class. Since then, I’ve turned that passion into real teaching experiences, from tutoring Grade 5/6 math privately to leading a classroom through the Junior Achievement Program with the Ottawa Network for Education. In my professional career, I’ve also trained colleagues and external partners on how to use technology in their daily work, which has further strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and practically. I enjoy tutoring because I love the reward of watching someone learn something new and the chance to learn from those I teach. Having been tutored from the age of 7, I know how much tutors can act as cheerleaders, helping students see their strengths. In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, nature walks, travel, martial arts, and cooking. I look forward to helping you succeed!

It also emphasizes tying STEM knowledge back into reality, which entails exploring the applications behind each topic, either in the real world or later in more advanced topics. Overall I’m a very curious and active person, I love anything with movement, especially in nature: rock-climbing, backpacking, running, biking, and yoga. I also really enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, writing, guitar, language learning, and philosophizing about life. My goal is to help you move past any roadblocks in a subject, establish necessary study skills (note-taking, finding good resources, and absorbing knowledge), in addition to deepening your curiosity about the subject.
