Hi! My name is Sarah. I’m a Concordia University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minors in Psychology, Law and Society, and First People Studies. I’m also currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University and working as a Junior Policy Analyst for the Government of Canada. I have a strong background in English and French and have been actively involved in my university community. My passion for advocacy, law, public policy, and human rights drives my commitment to promoting the inclusion of minorities and addressing systemic barriers. Having recently been a student, I understand students’ challenges and am adept at presenting concepts clearly and engagingly. As someone who has gone through tutoring in my younger years, I’m excited to share my knowledge and teach younger students subjects like English, French, and Math. I can’t wait to work with you! Hi! My name is Charlotte. I am a second-year health sciences student at the University of Ottawa, and I aspire to pursue medicine in the future. I am fascinated by human health and love to learn about how the sciences play a role in the functioning of the human body. I have always been passionate about education and love to learn! In the past, I have assisted in teaching dance lessons to children as young as 3, and I have also mentored high school students. Hi there/Bonjour! My name is Mia, and I am a second year Education/French as a Second Language student at the University of Ottawa. I have also graduated from uOttawa with a B.A. in Psychology and an Advanced Minor in French as a Second Language. Additionally, I have been learning and speaking French since Kindergarten, and just recently started teaching it in primary/junior classrooms! For the past three years, I have been tutoring students of all ages in French, English, Math, and Social Sciences. Hi! I'm Ashley, a fourth-year Civil Engineering student at Carleton University. I offer math tutoring for students from elementary school through high school. Through my engineering degree I have developped a strong background in advanced functions, calculus and other applied math concepts. I love helping others understand concepts that may feel difficult at first. I am organized, patient and encouraging, and I always try to find ways to make learning feel a little less overwhelming. Outside of school, I like to play hockey, do jigsaw puzzles, read, and spend time outdoors with family and friends. Howdy! My name is Matthew, and I am a tutor here at Ottawa Tutoring. I graduated with distinction from the University of Waterloo with a B.Sc. in Psychology (Chemistry minor) and a diploma in the Japanese language. Currently, I am a teacher candidate (B.Ed.) at the University of Ottawa, specializing in teaching high school Chemistry and Biology. Through facilitating STEM outreach workshops in high schools and my time tutoring science, I've learned that bringing energy and excitement to the table is the best way to learn. I believe that my love of STEM is infectious and helps to keep my lessons engaging. Beyond that, I am an avid history nerd eager to share the amazing stories of our past. Hi, I'm Alisha! I'm a Biomedical Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Ottawa with a drive for both learning and teaching. What engineering has taught me is how to break complex systems down into parts that make sense and that's exactly how I approach tutoring! Beyond my studies, I conduct federally funded research in microvascular blood flow and have mentored youth including children with special needs through soccer coaching, both of which have deeply shaped how I think about knowledge and people. Every learner is different, and the most important thing is figuring out how someone thinks before deciding how to explain something. My sessions are built around scaffolding which involves building understanding step by step and adapting as we go so that concepts stick rather than just get memorized. I am fully bilingual in English and French and tutor across math, science, programming, mechanics, and languages at the high school/university level. I aim to not just help you get the answer but help you understand the system behind it.

Hello! My name’s Aine and I’m a Physics major at the University of Ottawa. I’ve always loved learning—especially when it comes to science— and have had a passion for literature since I was little. Knowing the difficulties of these subjects I’d like to help students to understand them better and to actually enjoy the material they’re learning! Physics and Calculus in particular tend to have a bad reputation, so I’d like to assist in changing that perspective, especially since I used to be in the same boat before finding a passion in them. I’ve got a variety of interests including piano and learning languages, and have experience coaching soccer and tutoring informally.  I hope to help out as much as I can by getting students to engage with the material they’re learning, whether that’s by introducing real world applications, or by explaining them in a more intuitive manner (this is applicable to English, too)!

Hello! I'm Maya, and I'm currently going to Carleton University for aerospace engineering. I am specialising in space systems design with a minor in chemistry. I've been tutoring high school science and math subjects like physics, chemistry, and calculus for about three years now. Before I worked as a tutor, I also worked at a summer camp where I learned how to be flexible in my approach to different learning styles. Hi! My name is Serena, and I have an Honours B.A. in Second Language Teaching from the University of Ottawa. I'm now working on my B.Ed. to become a French teacher! I went to school in French (100%) from kindergarten to grade 6, and then a mix of English and French Immersion from grades 7-12. I have done some virtual tutoring for French as a second language for kids ages 6-14, and I've helped lots of kids with their homework and assignments other the years. I also have an interest in teaching history and math. In my spare time, I like to sing, dance, and make things! I'm also open to tutoring adults who are learning English or French.
